Becoming a Disciplemaker

D4L - Disciplemakers for Life

Jesus' last words to His disciples are recorded in Matthew 28:18-20 ..."All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

The Lord wants those who know Him to be involved in helping others learn how to live and walk through life as disciples of His.  We are to be "Disciplemakers"!   Here are some resources to help you get started.

Start with doing this personal Bible study on The Great Commission.  Print this two page study back-to-back, fold in half, and work through the study.  Afterward, get together with others who have also done the study to talk about next steps in becoming a disciplemaker.

Use this tool to begin to think about who God has put in your relational networks.  Where is each one in their faith in Christ?  What is the next step for each one to grow in their faith?   What could you do with them? How could you help them?   Pray, ask God for ideas, then invite them to take a next step in their faith.

Dawson Trotman, founder of The Navigators, gave a very inspiring message on the fact that God has called all of us who belong to Him to seek to reproduce ourselves spiritually, just as people do physically.  Print this two page study back-to-back, fold in half, and work through the study, then discuss it with a group as to the implications for your lives.

God promised to Abraham that He would multiply his descendants as the stars of heaven and grains of sand on the seashore.  How does that relate to us today as ones who belong to Christ, as ones who are the people of God in this world?   Is God continuing that promise to Abraham through us?  Read through this fascinating study and discuss it with others who want to be disciplemakers.
